Job summary

Yale New Haven Health is seeking a communications professional to serve as the primary media relations contact for an assigned hospital and services. The role drives earned media coverage, supports reputation, and advances priorities through proactive outreach and storytelling.

The candidate will manage media inquiries, coordinate interviews and events, and provide communications support to hospital leadership, physicians and staff, including after-hours crisis coverage as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field is required.
• Five to seven years in media relations, public relations, communications or journalism.
• Exceptional writing, editing and content creation across digital and social platforms.
• Healthcare experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead proactive and reactive media relations for an assigned hospital, services and priorities.
• Develop and distribute press releases, advisories, statements and talking points.
• Serve as spokesperson or prepare leaders for media engagements.
• Coordinate media interviews, press events, and ensure HIPAA compliance.
• Maintain media lists, coverage reports and archives.
• Contribute to content calendars and identify opportunities for earned media.
• Develop digital and social content to support coverage and thought leadership.
• Cultivate relationships with local, regional and national media.
