Job summary

Macmillan Learning in Austin, TX, is seeking a Senior Media Editor to lead the creation and publication of digital and ancillary high school resources. You will collaborate with authors, vendors, editors, and Product teams to ensure timely, high-quality content across courses.

You will drive efficiency by piloting AI and automation while maintaining editorial excellence and aligning with marketing and sales priorities.

Qualifications

• A bachelor's degree or higher, preferably in a discipline associated with the role.
• 5+ years of editorial experience in educational publishing or educational technology, including 3+ years of media editorial experience
• Senior-level judgment and leadership

Responsibilities

• Plan, initiate, and oversee projects in coordination with Program Manager, Development Editor, Content Producer, Product, and Production.
• Keep stakeholders informed about status, issues, scheduling, and budget, and share updates from Product, Engineering, and Program Management.
• Assess user needs and plan content that works with platform functionality.
• Recommend and implement changes to schedules, budgets, or content based on new functionality.
• Correspond with multimedia authors to prioritize and deliver content on time.
• Identify, assess, hire, and correspond with vendors and freelancers on multimedia content.
• Manage in-flight projects, monitor status, and adjust workflows as needed.
• Pilot AI and automation in internal processes, documenting effective practices and measuring impact.
• Evaluate feedback from marketing and sales on customer requests, and provide copy and TOCs for tools.
• Attend conferences and meetings to promote products and gather market information.
