Job summary

Sierra Space Corporation in Durham, NC is seeking a Mechatronics Engineer III / Electrical Engineer III to lead the design and evaluation of complex electromechanical components and systems. You will act as the Responsible Engineer for discrete packages, ensuring project execution and technical excellence.

Required is a strong background in electrical engineering, mechatronics, and motion control. The role emphasizes leadership, collaboration, and advancing spaceflight motor control applications.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent work experience.
• 5+ years of related experience and strong electrical fundamentals.
• Experience with simulation and clocking systems and motion control electronics.
• Experience driving hardware through lifecycle as a Responsible Engineer (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Develop system level architecture trades for electromechanical actuators and motion control electronics.
• Perform simulations to validate electromechanical performance and components.
• Own input into make/buy decisions for motion control electronics.
• Document design processes, tests, and modifications for future reference.
• Lead, mentor, and communicate with team members on motion control strategy.
