Job summary

Intuitive is hiring an experienced machine controls engineer to lead development of advanced mechatronic instrumentation for patient care. You will architect and implement control and sensing software for medical robots from prototype to commercialization, with emphasis on low-latency, high-precision optical control and robust data analysis.

Qualifications

• BS/MS in Computer Science or related field with 8+ years industry experience, or PhD with 5+ years in systems control and sensing.
• Experience in real-time/control software design for medical devices or diagnostic instruments.
• FDA software development lifecycle, risk analysis, and cybersecurity familiarity.

Responsibilities

• Architect, design, and implement control and sensing software for advanced mechatronic instrumentation
• Work hands-on with mechatronic hardware daily in bring-up, calibration, operation, testing and debugging
• Lead system optimization and debugging with experimental design, analysis and visualization
• Interface with embedded and electrical engineers to develop software interfaces to controllers and firmware
• Collaborate with systems and mechanical engineering to select and optimize hardware components
• Write clean, maintainable code and document software designs for instrument configurations
• Write and execute unit tests with strong test coverage
• Use Python for hardware bring-up, test automation, and data analysis/visualization
• Generate software requirements, design specs, and test protocols for Quality System
• Work with multidisciplinary team and leadership to hit milestones
• Prioritize and debug software issues/bugs
