Job summary

L3Harris Technologies, Inc. is seeking a Specialist, Mechanical Engineer (Mechanisms) to design and qualify precision mechanisms for mission systems. The role involves owning major components from concept through integration, with on‑site work at Palm Bay, Chantilly, or Carlsbad.

Responsibilities include CAD modeling, documentation, material evaluation, and testing. A TS/SCI clearance is required, and the position offers competitive benefits and a structured 9/80 schedule.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent with 4+ years of related experience; graduate degree 2+ years; or 8+ years in lieu of degree.
• Active Top Secret or Top Secret/SCI clearance required (active within last two years preferred).

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical design, analysis, prototype integration and qualification testing for precision mechanisms and electro‑mechanical hardware.
• Develop 3D models, drawings, technical data packages, and assembly documentation.
• Evaluate materials and design trades for performance, size, weight, power, manufacturability, and reliability.
• Plan and execute component and system‑level tests; analyze results and drive improvements.
• Present designs and results at internal and customer reviews (PDRs/CDRs).
• Collaborate with manufacturing, quality, CM, suppliers, technicians, and test team to transition designs to production.
• Support field tests or demonstrations as needed.
• Work on‑site in office and lab environments.
