Job summary

L3Harris Technologies is seeking a Specialist, Mechanical Engineer (Mechanisms) for on-site work at Palm Bay, Chantilly, or Carlsbad. You will lead design and qualification of precision mechanisms for mission systems, owning components from concept to test and production readiness.

Responsibilities include 3D CAD modeling, documentation, design trades, and collaboration with manufacturing and test teams to ensure reliability and performance in high-consequence environments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree or higher with relevant experience or 8+ years of related work instead of a degree.
• Active Top Secret or Top Secret/SCI clearance is required (Active within last 2 years).

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical design, analysis, prototype integration, and qualification testing for precision mechanisms and electro-mechanical hardware.
• Develop 3D models, drawings, and assembly documentation.
• Plan and execute component and system-level tests; analyze results and drive design improvements.
• Present designs and results at internal and customer reviews (PDRs/CDRs).
• Coordinate with manufacturing, QA, CM, suppliers, technicians, and test teams for production transition.
• Support field-test or demonstration activities as needed.
