Job summary

General Motors in Warren, Michigan seeks a Mechanical & Thermal Engineering Lab Technician to support the development, testing, and validation of IHED electronics and vehicle technologies. You will set up tests, run environmental chambers, collect data, and document results to enable data-driven decisions.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years in a lab, an associate degree or technical certification in mechanical/electrical/mechatronics, and experience with thermal, vibration, and shock testing;

Qualifications

• Associate degree or technical certification in mechanical, electrical, or mechatronics technology.
• 5+ years in an engineering, electronics, thermal, or validation lab.
• Experience with thermal, environmental, vibration, and shock testing.
• Ability to read engineering drawings and test procedures.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
• Strong attention to detail, organization, and safety.

Responsibilities

• Set up and execute mechanical, thermal, and environmental tests on electronic modules, PCBs, and enclosures.
• Set up fixtures, mounting hardware, and test configurations according to drawings and procedures.
• Operate lab equipment including environmental chambers, vibration shakers, thermal chambers, DAQ systems.
• Perform pre-test and post-test verification and document observations or anomalies.
• Maintain a safe, clean lab and manage test fixtures, tooling, and consumables.
