Job summary

Quaise Energy seeks a Senior Mechanical Technician to design support, assemble, test, modify, and maintain prototype hardware and lab systems supporting millimeter wave drilling research. You will work with scientists and engineers to quickly prototype, troubleshoot, and refine experimental setups, ensuring safe, efficient laboratory operations and ongoing uptime.

Qualifications

• 5–10 years experience as a mechanical technician in engineering or manufacturing.
• Experience supporting prototype development, laboratory research, or new product development.
• Certification in mechanical systems or related areas preferred.
• OSHA or other workplace safety certifications preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assemble, fabricate, modify, and maintain prototype hardware and lab equipment.
• Build, integrate, and troubleshoot mechanical assemblies for millimeter wave drilling tech.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and assembly instructions.
• Collaborate with scientists and engineers to prototype and refine designs.
• Conduct laboratory testing, inspections, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance.
• Assist with setup, organization, and expansion of laboratory spaces and tooling.
• Install, relocate, and maintain lab equipment and test systems.
• Coordinate with vendors/contractors on equipment installation and maintenance.
• Partner with the Research Director to establish safe workflows and procedures.
• Maintain documentation of builds, modifications, testing, and maintenance.
• Support safe laboratory operations and identify efficiency improvements.
• Participate in field demos and technology validation as needed.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
