Job summary

W. L. Gore & Associates is seeking an experienced Mechanical Reliability and Test Development Engineer to support new product development and ensure durability of implantable cardiovascular devices.

The role will involve translating use conditions into bench tests and collaborating across engineering teams, with a hybrid work arrangement at the Phoenix, AZ facility. Candidates should have a mechanical engineering background, 10+ years in a regulated environment, and strong analytical and writing

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or Biomedical Engineering.
• Experience in a regulated environment with hands-on mechanical testing.
• Strong technical writing and ability to document experiments and results.
• Ability to translate in vivo conditions to bench tests and develop durability strategies.”

Responsibilities

• Develop durability evaluation strategy and testing plans for product development.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams on multiple projects.
• Translate anticipated use conditions into bench top test scenarios.
• Develop or review protocols and reports for regulatory submissions.
• Lead root cause analysis of test observations and propose mitigations.
• Contribute to project timelines and risk assessments related to durability.
• Ensure compliance with training and process requirements.
• Drive continuous improvement of durability testing methods.
• Support manufacturing and design activities with testing insights.
