Job summary

AVCON, INC. in Orlando, FL is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Project Manager to lead facility engineering from proposal through construction, ensuring design accuracy and QA across documents.

The role requires coordinating engineers and sub-consultants, preparing scopes, budgets, and schedules, and presenting at project meetings. You will develop proposals, manage multiple projects, and contribute to business development while ensuring compliance with codes and industry standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Experience with HVAC engineering and design; familiar with codes, standards and industry practices.
• Experience with Direct Expansion (DX) equipment and chilled water systems.
• Strong knowledge of HVAC load calculations, ductwork, piping design, and equipment selections.
• Experience with equipment selection including AHUs, fans, VAVs, pumps, chillers, and heating.
• Ability to work cooperatively with all levels of staff and clients.
• Ability to organize work, set priorities, meet deadlines, and follow up with minimal supervision.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and protect privileged client information.
• Proficient in English usage, spelling, grammar, punctuation.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and management of facilities engineering projects ensuring completeness and accuracy of design.
• Prepare complete project documentation including plans, specifications, and engineer estimates.
• Develop proposals, bid documents, project reports, studies and other documentation.
• Coordinate technical and administrative activities with internal departments and disciplines.
• Prepare monthly project status reports and change orders; ensure schedule, scope and budget adherence.
• Attend client/contractor meetings and resolve project issues.
• Support business development through scope and fee proposals and industry involvement.
