Job summary

Daimler Truck North America (DTNA) is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to lead the design and integration of rear steel suspension systems within vehicle development programs. Qualifications

• BS in Mechanical Engineering with 5-7 years of experience.
• At least 1 year of group leader, project lead, or mentoring experience.
• Experience leading projects.
• Teaching others relevant Engineering concepts and tools.
• Leading and mentoring others in identifying/solving root causes of complex problems.
• Leading cross-functional improvement initiatives and presenting to groups.
• Demonstrated CAD expertise; strong verbal, written, and presentation skills.
• Experience designing parts in multiple processes; knowledge of vehicle assembly plant process.

Responsibilities

• Lead proprietary rear steel suspension integration projects within vehicle development programs.
• Represent team in Technical Staff Meetings and cross-functional meetings.
• Develop system level requirements, component specs and vehicle validation plans.
• Design and develop rear steel suspension systems that are manufacturable, durable and serviceable.
• Collaborate with suspension suppliers to design, develop, and validate rear steel suspensions.
• Engage with external and internal partners to meet cost, performance and quality targets.
• Provide technical guidance on rear steel suspensions and integration.
• Act as a consensus builder to keep stakeholders engaged through the project lifecycle.
• Apply engineering judgment to support manufacturing, QA and service.
• Stay updated on trucking industry developments to improve designs.
• Complete assignments on time and within budget; flag delays and risks.
• Participate in continuous improvement to enhance tools, processes and product cost/quality.
• Manage multiple assignments, prioritizing by business goals.
• Use CAD and design tools to create 3D part designs, GD&T and drawings; maintain docs.
• Collaborate with teammates to foster learning and inclusion.
• Use warranty data to inform design changes and decisions.
• Develop long-term product portfolio plans with local and global colleagues.
• Facilitate meetings and drive issues to resolution.
• Apply root cause analysis to resolve development and field issues.
