Job summary

Hitachi Energy is seeking a Mechanical Product Design Engineer to lead mechanical design initiatives from concept through production at our Virginia site. You will balance performance, reliability, manufacturability, and cost while working with engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain teams.

The role requires a Bachelors or Masters in Mechanical Engineering, 5+ years of design experience, and proficiency with SolidWorks, CATIA or Creo, plus FEA/CFD analysis.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 5+ years of mechanical product design and development.
• Experience with SolidWorks, CATIA, or Creo; FEA/CFD experience.
• Strong knowledge of manufacturig processes and DFM principles.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and development of mechanical products, subsystems, and components from concept through production.
• Translate technical requirements into manufacturable, cost-effective mechanical solutions.
• Develop 3D models, assemblies, and detailed engineering drawings using CAD tools.
• Perform engineering analyses including stress, vibration, thermal, and performance evaluations.
• Plan and execute product verification, validation, prototyping, and testing activities.
• Partner with cross-functional teams including electrical, software, manufacturing, and supply chain experts.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives that enhance product quality, performance, and development processes.
• Create and maintain technical documentation, specifications, reports, and manufacturing instructions.
