Job summary

The Foth Companies is seeking a Mechanical Process Engineer to deliver innovative utility solutions for industrial clients. This role supports design, specification, and project execution across multiple disciplines, with travel averaging 30% and options for remote work from any 33 office locations.

You will develop mass and energy balances, prepare P&IDs, equipment lists, and participate in proposal development.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering or equivalent technical experience.
• 7+ years of experience with utility systems such as steam, refrigeration/ammonia, compressed air, HVAC, compressed gases, and water systems.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with other project disciplines to ensure integrated solutions.
• Prepare equipment specifications and technical documentation.
• Partner with clients, vendors, and suppliers to generate cost estimates and contribute to proposal development.
• Create mass and energy balances to support process design.
• Produce process and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs).
• Compile equipment lists, line lists, and points of connection (POC) documentation.
• Define operational parameters and performance criteria.
• Work closely with designers to translate engineering concepts into drawings.
• Author installation scope documents for construction teams.
• Provide support during on-site construction and installation phases.
• Assist with system checkout and start-up activities.
• Mentor and coach junior team members as needed.
• Travel as required, with an anticipated average of 30% annually.
