Job summary

Sandia National Laboratories in California seeks a Mechanical Maintenance Technician to join the Facilities Mechanical Maintenance Team, focusing on HVAC, Plumbing, and Facility Control System (FCS) oversight for ~80 buildings. Work with cross‑functional teams to ensure reliable, safe operations across the site.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED with relevant experience; DOE Q-level security clearance is required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED plus 5+ years in maintenance or equivalent.
• Experience with HVAC systems, plumbing, and associated subsystems.
• Ability to obtain DOE Q-level clearance.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair HVAC, plumbing and FCS systems.
• Perform routine preventive maintenance on HVAC units, boilers, chillers, pumps.
• Read blueprints and electrical diagrams to guide work.
• Collaborate with facilities managers and engineers on upgrades.
