Job summary

Kairos Power, based in Alameda, CA, seeks a Senior Mechanical Systems Licensing Engineer to lead licensing activities for KP-FHR reactor facilities. You will work with design, safety analysis and technology teams to ensure regulatory requirements are translated into design and documentation.

Experience in nuclear licensing is not required as training is provided; candidates with mechanical, chemical or nuclear engineering backgrounds who are eager to learn are encouraged to apply. Travel 25-35%.

Qualifications

• BS or MS degree in Mechanical, Chemical or Nuclear Engineering, or related field.
• 10+ years in facility or system engineering design, analysis, construction, or testing.
• Experience in system design with understanding of new technologies.
• Strong coordination and stakeholder management in a startup environment.

Responsibilities

• Develop licensing content and programs for reactor vessel and key systems.
• Lead portions of license applications and defense activities.
• Prepare for pre-application meetings with USNRC.
• Develop licensing strategies for license applications.
• Coordinate with engineering/safety teams on safety analysis and testing programs.
• Provide guidance to less-experienced engineers.
