Job summary

Etched is seeking a Mechanical Lab Operations Lead to own the day-to-day operational backbone of our R&D and prototyping facility. The role spans machine shop, additive manufacturing, and high-precision inspection, with emphasis on safety, uptime, and asset tracking.

You will partner with mechanical, thermal, and hardware validation engineers to triage fabrication requests, manage material pipelines, and maintain an environment where engineering moves quickly without compromising

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience managing a mechanical lab, machine shop, or hardware R&D space.
• Hands-on operation of manual/CNC mills, lathes, and safety requirements.
• Experience with modern 3D printers and post-processing equipment.

Responsibilities

• Oversee lab operations and machine maintenance to keep equipment running safely.
• Enforce EH&S policies and lab safety compliance across the team.
• Manage inventory, rack build, and procurement workflows for the lab.
• Triaget fabrication requests and optimize lab workflow for throughput.
