Job summary

Amazon.com Services LLC is seeking a Senior Hardware Engineer (Mechanical) to lead the mechanical design and integration of delivery robots into Amazon’s last-mile delivery ecosystem. You will own mechanical systems for safe, reliable in-van docking, charging, storage, deployment, and retrieval, as well as station-side cart docking and handoff workflows.

• Experience in developing functional specifications, design verification plans, and functional test procedures.

Responsibilities

• Own the mechanical design and integration of robot-related systems within delivery vans and stations.
• Design in-van charging solutions for robots with emphasis on interfaces, alignment, thermal considerations and serviceability.
• Lead mechanical design for robot ingress/egress mechanisms, ramps, guides, and fixtures for safe deployment and retrieval.
• Define station-side infrastructure such as cart docking, robot staging, and handoff interfaces.
• Translate operational and autonomy requirements into mechanical requirements, tolerances, and design constraints.
• Collaborate with electrical, firmware, robotics, and vehicle engineering teams for end-to-end integration.
• Drive designs through concept, prototyping, validation, and production, including DFMEA and environmental testing.
• Ensure compliance with safety, ergonomics, and regulatory standards for fleet-scale deployment.
• Optimize for cost, manufacturability, durability, and maintainability; support pilots and field testing.
