Job summary

Northrop Grumman in Sunnyvale, CA, is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Manager 2 to lead a Marine Systems engineering team across Sunnyvale and Ocean Springs. The role involves owning requirements, interface development, verification, and the design of complex hardware for the U.S.

Navy, while guiding cost and schedule performance. You will manage staffing, perform reviews, and drive career development, with emphasis on rapid prototyping, CAD modeling, and verification.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering with 9+ years of engineering experience; OR Master with 7+ years; OR PhD with 5+ years.
• Must be a US Citizen.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a US Government Secret clearance.
• Strong leadership, communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide project and technical oversight of design activities performed by the group.
• Prepare cost estimates, provide proposal inputs, and review proposal content for internal and external customers.
• Guide mechanical design and development of fabricated and machined components, and subsystems (electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic).
• Increase design engineering competencies through employee development and strategic hiring.
• Support test, qualification, and delivery activities, including review of test plans and reports.
• Own and direct design processes used in the group, and ensure alignment with Cost and Schedule targets.
• Interface regularly with program office personnel and customer representatives, communicating status and risks clearly.
