Job summary

Haptica Robotics in San Francisco seeks a Lead Mechanical Engineer to move our tactile glove from prototype to small-batch production. Own end-to-end hardware development with internal and external partners. You should have 3–5+ years in mechanical product design, startup experience, and proven leadership.

Proficiency in CAD (Onshape preferred) and familiarity with ASTM/ISO test protocols are essential. This hands-on role includes mentoring peers, collaborating with Cosima and the hardware team,

Qualifications

• 3–5+ years in mechanical product design.
• Led at least 1 product from concept to production.
• Startup or fast-paced environment experience.
• High technical standards and strong communication.
• Proficient CAD and top-level assemblies/versioning.
• Familiar with production standards and test protocols.
• Mechatronics familiarity and hands-on prototyping.
• Experience with overseas manufacturing partners.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end build planning, assembly SOPs, jigs, fixtures, BOM, and inventory.
• Scale EVT/DVT with external partners and internal assembly.
• Integrate hardware with customers on external platforms.
• Define and run standard testing protocols (ASTM/ISO).
• Collaborate with supply chain and overseas manufacturers.
• Set documentation standards (PRDs, BOMs, SOPs) and mentor staff.
