Job summary

Sealed Air Corporation in Duncan, SC, seeks a Mechanical Equipment Sustaining Senior Engineer to own the lifecycle of Vertical Pouch Packaging (VPP) equipment, from commercialization through sustaining support, improvements, and obsolescence.

You will work with R&D and cross-functional teams to transition designs into production, troubleshoot field issues, create CAD modifications, and lead changes that boost reliability, uptime, and safety.

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 5+ years of engineering experience with automated equipment.
• Experience with 3D CAD and mechanical design.
• Experience troubleshooting automated equipment and performing root cause analysis.
• Strong understanding of mechanical systems and components.
• Experience in sustaining engineering and lifecycle management.
• Ability to work in manufacturing environments and cross-functional teams.
• Strong analytical, communication, and project management skills.
• Experience in packaging/food manufacturing preferred, other industries acceptable.
• FMEA or engineering change experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Own the mechanical engineering support and lifecycle of assigned VPP equipment.
• Investigate performance issues, perform root cause analysis, implement corrective actions.
• Design mechanical modifications using 3D CAD for commercialized equipment.
• Collaborate with R&D as equipment transitions to sustaining engineering.
• Lead equipment improvements, engineering changes, and obsolescence management.
• Maintain drawings, 3D models, BOMs, manuals, and spare parts recommendations.
• Coordinate with Supply Chain on spare parts, inventory levels and purchasing.
• Support troubleshooting, commissioning, field investigations, and cross-functional issues.
• Work with cross-functional teams to resolve complex equipment problems and implement sustainable solutions.
