Job summary

BOAB Ventures seeks a Mechanical Engineer with maritime experience to design, build, test, and deploy unmanned maritime sensor systems. You will work in a cross-functional team, mentor junior engineers, and spend time both in the lab and at sea.

The role requires carrying a design from concept through manufacturing handoff and at-sea testing, with extended field exposure and hands-on prototyping in a dynamic national security environment.

Qualifications

• BS in Mechanical Engineering or Naval Architecture with 5+ years in design (or 10+ years with 5+ in a design role)
• US Citizenship required; ability to obtain Secret or Top Secret/SCI clearance
• Maritime design experience preferred
• Extensive hands-on prototyping and testing in lab and field
• Familiarity with SolidWorks; cross-over skills welcomed

Responsibilities

• Design and document mechanical systems meeting requirements
• Develop operator-centric systems for harsh maritime and submerged environments
• Produce CAD artifacts, drawings, and revision control
• Select processes and prepare documentation for technicians and suppliers
• Prototype, test, and refine designs in lab and in field deployments
• Plan manufacturing transfer and support field testing
• Mentor junior engineers and technicians
• Coordinate at-sea deployment, testing, and recovery operations
