Job summary

DISHER is partnering with a collaborative design studio in Allendale, MI to recruit a Mechanical Engineer focused on energy-efficient building systems for education facilities.

The role leads HVAC design, calculations, and BIM development in Revit, collaborating with architects and engineers through construction. PE license and 10+ years in mechanical engineering are required; LEED and sustainability credentials are a plus. Strong leadership and mentoring skills are valued.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license required; eligible to obtain Michigan licensure.
• Minimum 10 years of relevant mechanical engineering experience.
• Experience designing HVAC for commercial/educational facilities.
• Proficiency with Revit, Trane TRACE or Carrier HAP, and Bluebeam.
• Knowledge of building codes, energy codes and LEED preferred.
• Experience mentoring junior engineers and designers.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and engineering of building mechanical systems (HVAC, controls).
• Perform calculations, sizing, load analysis, and evaluations.
• Provide technical leadership to engineers and designers.
• Support sustainable design through energy modeling and lifecycle decisions.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams and prepare 3D construction documents in Revit.
• Participate in BIM coordination and clash detection.
• Review documentation for code compliance, energy efficiency, LEED.
• Conduct site visits and support construction administration.
• Collaborate with clients and project teams to meet goals and budgets.
