Job summary

Voyager Technologies is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to own the mechanical design for spaceflight hardware from concept through flight. You will work with electrical/RF engineers, systems engineers and program management to ensure designs survive launch and operate in space environments.

Based in San Diego and 100% onsite, you will develop enclosures, perform structural/thermal analyses, create GD&T drawings, and guide manufacturing from BOM to flight qualification.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent years of experience.
• 6 years of mechanical design experience for PCBAs.
• Knowledge of space flight requirements and environments.
• 5 years minimum experience in SolidWorks, Ansys or equivalent 3D CAD experience.
• Strong drafting standards per ASME-Y14.5 and GD&T.
• Experience writing manufacturing instructions.

Responsibilities

• Design mechanical enclosures, structures, systems, and mounting solutions for spacecraft electronics payloads.
• Generate detailed part and assembly drawings with GD&T per ASME-Y14.5 in SolidWorks for fabrication and inspection.
• Perform structural and thermal analysis using SolidWorks Simulation and Ansys Mechanical to verify margins.
• Conduct space environment thermal analysis and bolted joint analysis per NASA-STD-5020.
• Create BOMs and collaborate with electrical/RF engineers on PCB layout and mechanical integration.
• Write environmental test procedures and support test execution and data review.
• Develop content for design reviews (SRR, PDR, CDR, TRR) and support vendor sourcing.
• Own hardware through its full lifecycle from concept to delivery.
