Job summary

York Space Systems is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to translate complex design requirements into affordable, producible solutions for high-rate production. The role focuses on spacecraft hardware and ground support equipment, requiring strong CAD skills and manufacturing aptitude.

The ideal candidate has 4+ years in mechanical design, familiarity with space vehicle design or MGSE, and the ability to mentor junior engineers while coordinating with cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

• BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related technical field from an accredited university.
• 4+ years of experience as a mechanical design engineer; space vehicle design or MGSE experience preferred.
• Strong understanding of high-quality mechanical systems and GD&T.
• Experience with configuration control, PLM, and design release lifecycle.
• Excellent CAD skills with SolidWorks or equivalent.
• Ability to mentor junior engineers and lead teams.
• Desire to obtain/maintain TS/SCI clearance.

Responsibilities

• Engineer mechanical design solutions for spacecraft flight hardware and MGSE.
• Create designs with DFM/DFA for high-rate manufacturing.
• Perform preliminary FEA and hand calculations to validate designs.
• Produce component and assembly drawings with GD&T for cost-effective production.
• Develop build instructions and procedures with the integration team.
