Job summary

EVONA is seeking a mechanical engineer to join a highly experienced team focused on next-generation satellite and telescope technologies. You will design precision mechanical structures, develop detailed CAD models, and integrate optical, electrical, and thermal subsystems for spaceflight hardware.

The role requires 3+ years in mechanical engineering, strong GD&T knowledge, and hands-on experience with high-tolerance systems, FEA, and space hardware development.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years’ experience in mechanical engineering with hands-on product development.
  • Excellent understanding of GD&T and engineering drawing standards.
  • Experience designing precision or high-tolerance mechanical systems.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, collaborative engineering environment.
  • FEA (NX Nastran, ANSYS or equivalent).
  • Opto-mechanical or optical system design.
  • Manufacturing, integration, or assembly experience.
  • Space or aerospace hardware development.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop precision mechanical structures and assemblies using Siemens NX.
  • Create detailed 3D CAD models and manufacturing drawings.
  • Design interfaces between optical, electrical, and thermal subsystems.
  • Perform structural and thermal analysis (FEA and hand calculations).
  • Support manufacturing, assembly, integration, and testing.
  • Collaborate with suppliers on fabrication, tolerances, and quality requirements.
  • Contribute to the development of next-generation spaceflight hardware.
