Job summary

Muon Space in San Jose, CA is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to design deployable structures for solar arrays and lead the associated analyses. You will own structural, dynamic, and thermoelastic analyses to prove margins and reliability for launch and orbit operations.

As a foundational team member, you will collaborate with mechanisms and photovoltaics leads, align with a dedicated analysis group, and help scale from prototype builds to constellation production.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience designing, building, and testing high-reliability hardware.
• 5+ years of structural analysis experience.
• Strong CAD and drawing skills with GD&T and mass budgets.
• Experience with environmental testing and integration with spacecraft.

Responsibilities

• Design deployable structures for solar arrays and QD hardware.
• Own structural, dynamic, and thermoelastic analyses for designs.
• Perform static, modal, random vibration and shock FEA.
• Collaborate with structural analysis group for interface loads and dynamics.
• Develop prototypes and support deployment testing campaigns.
