Job summary

Lam Research in Tualatin, OR is seeking a Mechanical Engineer 3 to design and develop cutting-edge mechanical/electro-mechanical systems for semiconductor equipment. You will conduct feasibility studies, testing, and guide teams in detailed design and fabrication, providing essential design data for packaging and integration.

The role requires strong optics knowledge, extensive Creo CAD experience, and the ability to manage complex projects under tight deadlines.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or a Master’s degree with 3 years’ experience; or a PhD without experience
• Experience or deep understanding of Optics and optic systems
• Extremely knowledgeable using 3D CAD tools required
• Ability to work in a team environment with aggressive deadlines and multiple priorities
• Strong skills and experiences in problem solving, time and priority management, communication, and project management

Responsibilities

• Participates in and often leads the conceptualization, modeling, analysis, development, documentation, and test/validation of hardware associated with new semiconductor equipment.
• Designs parts using metals, ceramics, quartz, plastics, and advanced coatings/plating’s. Work with potential suppliers to ensure parts can be manufactured in accordance with performance and cost objectives.
• Ensures documentation is consistent with SEMI, Lam Standards and other standards as applicable (ANSI, DIN etc.), as well as best known methods for GD&T; accordingly, demonstrates knowledge and ability to properly utilize them.
• Performs analytical work in order to characterize and properly specify new and existing designs, including heat transfer, stress, vibrations, fluid/gas dynamics and manufacturability.
• Develops and execute test plans that generate characterization data sufficient to understand and validate the performance of the design.
• Develops and present reports/presentations of excellent quality that communicate design intent, analysis, and validation at design reviews.
• Collaborates with other departments for procurement and assembly of mechanical components/ equipment.
• Professionally represents the company to the customer.
• Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience, may lead small projects with manageable risks and resource requirements.
