Job summary

PDDN INC. in Beverly, MA seeks a Mechanical Engineer with 4–5 years in the semiconductor field to lead the mechanical design of ion implanter subsystems, including process chambers, beamline structures, wafer handling, and vacuum chambers.

You will perform hand calculations and FEA to ensure reliability and manufacturability. Candidates should hold a BSME (MS preferred) and have at least 1 year of Creo CAD experience, plus PLM exposure.

Qualifications

• 4–5 years of experience in the semiconductor domain.
• BSME minimum; MS preferred.
• At least 1 year of CAD experience with Creo.
• Experience with PLM systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical design for ion implanter subsystems (process chambers, beamline structures, wafer handling, vacuum chambers).
• Conduct design reviews, apply DfX principles, GD&T, and tolerance stack-up analysis.
• Perform hand calculations and FEA (CREO Simulate, ANSYS) for structural integrity and reliability.
• Execute detailed CAD work, engineering drawings, and BOM management (Creo, AutoCAD, Windchill, Glovia).
• Develop precision motion mechanisms and complex electromechanical assemblies.
• Perform FEA/CFD (thermal, structural, modal) and validate designs via prototyping.
• Drive manufacturability improvements, reliability growth, and cost reduction.
• Define test requirements, coordinate execution, and document engineering test plans.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (systems, electrical, controls, physics, manufacturing, field service).
• Ensure compliance with SEMI S2/S8 and internal safety standards.
