Job summary

Azenta Inc. is seeking a Sr. Mechanical Engineer to lead design and development of mechanical systems, packages, and mechanisms from concept through production.

The role involves hands-on prototyping, testing, and cross-functional collaboration with engineering, manufacturing, and program management. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanisms, robotics, or automation, and 5–10 years of design experience, with proficiency in SolidWorks CAD and engineering analysis.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering required.
• Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred.
• 5-10 years of design experience, preferably with mechanisms, robotics, or automation.
• Combination of experience and education will be considered.

Responsibilities

• Generate concepts, design new product mechanisms, sub-assemblies, and packaging.
• Engineering analysis.
• Generate detailed design and drawings.
• Identify and select vendors, outsource parts and assemblies (off the shelf components, custom items, and fabricated parts).
• Must be hands-on; assemble, troubleshoot, debug, and qualify subsystems and components.
• Resolve design issues as appropriate.
• Clearly and concisely express and document ideas, options, problems, issues, test results, etc.
