Job summary

Calder Search in Greater Boston is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to own large subsystems for next-generation industrial robots. You will design, prototype and bring components from sketch to manufacturing in a fast-moving hardware environment.

On-site 5 days a week in the Boston area with relocation support for exceptional candidates. Existing visas can be transferred, but new sponsorship isn’t available.

Qualifications

• 3-10 years mechanical engineering experience.
• Experience with electromechanical systems going to manufacturing and field use.
• Ownership of full subsystems, not isolated parts.
• Hands-on prototyping: milling, 3D printing, hand tools.
• Strong CAD skills in any major package.
• Comfort with AI tools in engineering tasks.
• BS or higher in Mechanical Engineering or similar.
• Background in fast-moving hardware or robotics companies.
• Experience working with overseas manufacturers.

Responsibilities

• Own complete subsystems on industrial robots, from first sketch to manufacturing.

Senior Mechanical Engineer, Robotics | Greater Boston | $150K-$220K + equity

Most robotics startups are still demoing. This one has robots working at customer sites across the US right now.

I’m partnering with a well-funded AI robotics company in the Boston area that has just closed a major round led by one of the top VC firms in the world. They build their own hardware and software, and the hardware team is growing quickly. They’re hiring several Senior Mechanical Engineers to own big pieces of their next generation of robots.

What you’ll do

• Own complete subsystems on industrial robots, from first sketch to manufacturing
• Build, prototype and test hands-on in a well-equipped shop
• Drive design for manufacturing and assembly
• Own technical sourcing and supplier decisions, including overseas vendors
• Work closely with software and field deployment teams

The culture is hands-on with very little red tape. You see the problem, you fix it, and you won’t spend your whole day behind a screen.

What you’ll bring
