Job summary

Merrick & Company is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead conceptual design, equipment selection, and piping engineering across a diverse portfolio. The role involves interface with clients and ensuring strict code compliance and corporate standards, with remote support for projects based in Ellicott City, MD, Richmond, VA, and Newport News and travel up to 25%.

Qualified candidates have a PE license, ABET degree, and 12+ years of experience, including Design/Build and EPC work.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited Mechanical Engineering degree required.
• 12+ years of relevant industry experience and team leadership on design projects.
• Registered Professional Engineer (PE) with ability to obtain licenses in additional states.
• Experience on Design/Build and EPC projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead conceptual design, equipment selection, and piping engineering.
• Perform rigorous engineering calculations to ensure code-compliant systems.
• Size and select mechanical equipment with specs, datasheets, and bid evaluations.
• Execute pipe stress analysis using CAESAR II/NozzlePro and coordinate with owners/constructors.
• Mentor engineers and designers; oversee piping and 3D modeling coordination.
• Ensure compliance with IBC, ASME, API, PIP codes and owner requirements.
