Job summary

Merrick & Company is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to support the mechanical design of projects as part of a multi-disciplinary team. This role can be based in Ellicott City, MD, Richmond, VA, or Newport News, VA offices, with hybrid work options.

The ideal candidate has a BS in Mechanical Engineering, 4+ years' experience, FE exam progress toward licensure, and strong skills in design, calculations, and construction documents for energy, manufacturing, and bioprocessing projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from ABET-accredited program.
• Minimum four years of related experience and ability to travel.
• FE Exam completed; pursuing Professional Engineer license.
• Experience in mechanical design, calculations, specs, and construction documents.
• Industrial manufacturing design knowledge and strong report writing.

Responsibilities

• Participate with mechanical and multi-disciplinary teams to design complex facilities.
• Perform detailed engineering calculations, prepare data sheets and specs.
• Coordinate with vendors; develop 3D CAD models and construction drawings.
• Conduct field work at customer locations; travel within the United States.
• Maintain knowledge of applicable codes and standards for industrial projects.
