Job summary

JC Ford is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer, R&D in Tennessee to join our team. The role combines hands-on product design, computer analysis, and technical development for new capital machinery products and technologies. You will translate marketing requirements into specifications and technical solutions, lead design reviews, and mentor engineers.

Qualifications

BS in Mechanical Engineering from ABET accredited university.
8+ years of relevant experience with BS in Mechanical Engineering.
5+ years of relevant experience with MS in Mechanical Engineering.
Advanced technical writing and documentation skills.
Ability to analyze complex data and communicate findings clearly.
Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
Expert in 3D CAD modeling and drawing creation, preferably Autodesk Inventor.
PDM experience, preferably Vault.
Ability to perform structural FEA using MSC Nastran or similar.
Self-motivated with initiative and ability to work autonomously.

Responsibilities

Develop product requirements and specification documents.
Apply DFx methods (DFM, DFSS, DFMA) in design.
Design components for machining, sheet metal, welding, and CNC processes using Inventor drawings.
Create and release product Bills of Materials.
Perform tolerance analyses and design reviews.
Ensure regulatory and internal standard compliance.
Develop test procedures and validation for production.
Develop project schedules and budgets.
Lead and mentor other Mechanical Engineers and CAD Designers.
Travel to customer locations to troubleshoot issues and verify schedules.
