Quantinuum in Broomfield, CO is seeking an Advanced Mechanical Engineer – System Design & Product Definition to own the physical design and documentation of next‑generation quantum systems. You will shape how the quantum computer and subsystems fit together, including room layouts, interfaces, and enclosure concepts.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering is required.
• 6 years of related work experience.
• U.S. person required due to contractual and security requirements.
• Candidates must not be a PRC or Russian national unless a U.S. citizen.

Responsibilities

• System-level mechanical design of the quantum computer and the physical environment.
• Develop equipment layouts, structural interfaces, enclosures, service access, and room-level space plans.
• Define mechanical and physical interfaces across optical, electrical, thermal, vacuum, fluid, and facility systems.
• Allocate mechanical requirements down to subsystems.
• Create and maintain top-level CAD assemblies, drawings, interface definitions, BOMs, and related documentation.
• Work with larger engineering team to maintain system product structure and configurations.
• Design system enclosures balancing performance, manufacturability, serviceability, safety, and industrial design.
• Resolve packaging, access, interface, and configuration conflicts across teams.
• Support prototype builds, capture as-built configurations, and drive changes through release processes.
• Promote disciplined CAD/PLM practices across the team.
