Job summary

Atom Computing in Boulder, Colorado is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to design the physical systems that house, protect, and connect our control electronics, focusing on enclosures, thermal management, and cabling for 19" rack-mount and pluggable instrumentation.

This hands-on role covers the full product lifecycle—from concept and CAD modeling to prototyping, testing, and production support—with close collaboration across electrical, firmware, and systems engineers to ensure

Qualifications

• BS in Mechanical Engineering is required.
• 5+ years of mechanical design experience for instrumentation.
• Strong CAD/FEA/CFD skills and GD&T proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Design enclosures, heat sinks, shields, cabling, chassis, and front panels for rack-mount products.
• Create and maintain CAD models, assemblies, and drawings.
• Perform thermal and airflow analysis to meet operating temps.
• Design sheet metal, extrusions, and machined parts; rapid prototyping.
• Collaborate with electrical engineers to integrate PCBs and power supplies.
• Support design reviews, prototyping, testing, and production transitions.
