Job summary

Atom Computing in Boulder, CO seeks a Hardware Engineering Manager to lead control-system hardware from board design through fabrication, assembly, bring-up, and integration into working instruments. You will mentor engineers, manage vendor relationships, and drive manufacturability in a low-to-mid-volume, high-complexity environment.

Reporting to the VP of Control Systems & Software, this role requires deep PCB fabrication expertise, strong leadership, and a track record delivering hardware

Qualifications

• BS/MS/PhD in Electrical or Computer Engineering.
• 10+ years hardware engineering with PCB fabrication and contract electronics assembly.
• 2+ years leading a team of engineers.

Responsibilities

• Lead hardware engineers for PCB design, bring-up, and test of control system instruments.
• Manage PCB fabrication and contract assembly vendors, quotes and lead times, ensuring quality and delivery targets.
• Lead root-cause investigations and corrective actions for prototype defects.
• Oversee product roadmap and subsystem delivery schedules for commercial and research projects.
• Collaborate on Design for Manufacturability (DFM) to catch manufacturability issues early.
• Work with quantum physicists and engineers to deliver hardware addressing their needs.
