Job summary

Rigetti Computing is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to architect, design, and optimize hardware for quantum computing platforms, including cryostats, RF signal delivery, and silicon device packaging within dilution refrigerators.

You will work with quantum device physicists and RF engineers to deliver scalable, robust mechanical systems, produce CAD models and BOMs, and validate prototypes in the lab.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of mechanical design and systems engineering experience.
• MS in Mechanical Engineering or higher.
• Proficiency with 3D CAD (SolidWorks preferred).
• Experience in thermal and structural modeling and simulation.
• Hands-on machining or fabrication experience.

Responsibilities

• Architect and lead mechanical design of cryostat components and signal chain enclosures.
• Develop 3D CAD models, drawings, and BOMs.
• Drive end-to-end mechanical interfaces from room temperature to millikelvin.
• Perform thermal, vibrational, and structural simulations to ensure performance.
• Prototype and validate mechanical/cryogenic designs in the lab.
