Job summary

Rigetti Computing seeks a Senior Mechanical Engineer to architect, design, develop, and optimize advanced hardware for quantum platforms. You will lead mechanical design and integration of RF delivery and silicon packaging within dilution refrigerators, interfacing room-temperature control electronics with ultra-low-temperature environments.

Qualifications

• MS or higher in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent field.
• 7+ years of mechanical design and systems engineering experience.
• Proficiency with 3D CAD software (SolidWorks preferred).
• Strong tolerance analysis and GD&T knowledge.
• Experience with thermal and structural modeling and simulation.
• Knowledge of PLM and documentation control.

Responsibilities

• Architect and design mechanical subsystems for cryogenic hardware.
• Develop and maintain 3D CAD models, drawings, and BOMs.
• Lead design from room temp to millikelvin regime.
• Design thermal anchoring and shielding for stability and coherence.
• Perform thermal, vibrational, and structural simulations (FEA).
• Build and validate mechanical/cryogenic prototypes in lab.
• Collaborate with quantum physics teams for integration.
• Coordinate with hardware, cryo, RF, and systems teams.
• Develop specifications for outsourced components and manage suppliers.
• Create assembly docs and maintain design traceability in PLM.
