Job summary

CGI Inc., a Timken company, is based in Carson City, Nevada, seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to design, develop and improve products and direct prototype testing. Reports to the Director of Engineering; may supervise a Product Draftsman and Toolmaker as needed.

Plans prototype designs to meet customer and internal requirements. Establishes test requirements if not specified by the customer, and leads testing of new prototypes to verify reliability.

Qualifications

• Solid knowledge of CAD systems and mechanical design principles.
• Five or more years of directly related engineering experience.
• Experience with prototypes, tests, and design documentation.

Responsibilities

• Analyzes and evaluates production requirements for test equipment and methods.
• Interfaces with production personnel for release of test programs and procedures.
• Designs electronic or mechanical prototypes of test equipment; orders parts and keeps documentation.
• Develops design sketches, layouts, and schematics for standard/modified products.
• Prepares BOMs and work orders for production release.
