Job summary

CMTA, formerly AMA Group, is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer in New York to lead and manage a diverse portfolio of projects. You will serve as the face of the firm in client interactions and oversee a team of designers and engineers through all project phases.

You will guide technical design, ensure code compliance, and mentor 1–2 junior engineers while coordinating with clients, contractors, and architects to meet schedules and objectives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering required; PE highly preferred.
• Minimum 5 - 9 years of experience in mechanical engineering; field experience required; people management experience highly preferred.
• Expert knowledge of building codes and standards, engineering drafting standards, mechanical engineering standards, and other trades.
• Expert understanding of the construction process and interpretation of construction drawings.
• Expert knowledge of AutoCAD and Revit.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and lead daily team activities with inside and outside design team members.
• Advance the design of the project with those you supervise.
• Become responsible for managing projects through all phases of development.
• Receive technical guidance on unusual or complex projects.
• Learn and understand contract terms and the scope of service.
• Responsible for all facets of product delivery to assigned clients and shares accountability for satisfaction.
• Manage a significant amount of work as a project manager and be responsible for several projects.
• Build relationships with the design team and/or clients.
• Respond to requests from clients and communicate information on time to strengthen trust in your advisor.
• Work with the Group Leader to inform, manage, and meet project schedules.
• Mentor 1-2 developing engineers
