Job summary

Lutron Electronics Co., Inc. in Boston, MA is seeking a highly motivated Mechanical Engineer to design and deliver robust products for automated lighting and shading solutions.

You will develop 3D CAD models, perform analyses, and validate designs across the full product lifecycle. The role requires 5+ years of mechanical design experience, hands-on prototyping, and collaboration with manufacturing, purchasing, quality, and suppliers. Onsite work in Boston is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Minimum GPA of 3.0 across all degrees earned.
• 5+ years of mechanical product design experience.
• Experience with injection molding, stamping, extrusion, forming and machining.
• Ability to travel up to 10% and work onsite in Boston, MA.
• Authorized to work in the U.S. without visa sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Design mechanical components, assemblies, tools, and fixtures for performance and manufacturability.
• Create 3D CAD models and engineering documentation for products and design changes.
• Perform FEA, tolerance analyses, DFM, and FMEA to validate designs.
• Identify and implement product improvements and cost reduction opportunities.
• Prototype designs using 3D printing, machine shops, and supplier resources.
• Build and test prototypes to evaluate performance and improve solutions.
• Conduct design reviews and incorporate feedback into product designs.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and launch new products.
• Source, qualify, and support production tooling and manufacturing processes.
• Troubleshoot manufacturing, supplier, and customer issues using root cause analysis.
• Uphold quality standards, customer focus, and continuous improvement initiatives.
