Job summary

Generac Power Systems is seeking a Mechanical Engineer III – Senior Engineer to provide engineering input to product development projects and coordinate with cross-functional teams across engineering, operations, sourcing, quality, service, and marketing.

The role requires a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (or related field) and 5+ years of relevant experience, with design experience in various materials, CAD skills (Creo/ SolidWorks), and familiarity with PLM like Windchill.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 5+ years of relevant work experience.

Responsibilities

• Designs, validates, and brings new products to market.
• Specifies precise new product functional requirements; designs, tests and integrates components to produce final designs; evaluates design's effectiveness, cost, reliability, and safety.
• Develops, executes and evaluates fitness-for-use testing, product specifications and process validation plans for moderately complex products; creates and reviews material part specs and BOMs.
• Collaborates with internal manufacturing partners and external manufacturers to optimize designs for manufacturability.
• Uses CAD/CAE systems to model new designs and produce detailed drawings.
• Supports product development plans (schedule, product cost, meeting design inputs).
• Mentors less experienced engineers and travels to other Generac facilities as needed.
