TE Connectivity is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer in Webster to design precision optical connector systems for AI and hyperscale computing. You will work on sub-micron tolerancing and advanced materials, collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure manufacturability and performance.

The role focuses on rigorous mechanical design, testing, and documentation, with opportunities to contribute to new system hardware across the TE Passive Optics group.

Qualifications

• BS or higher in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field
• 5–8 years in precision mechanical design, optics/photonic experience preferred
• Hands-on experience with metals and engineering plastics
• Proficiency with 3D CAD: SolidWorks/NX/Creo; FEA knowledge is a plus

Responsabilités

• Design high-precision alignment fixtures, tooling, and automation systems for optical component placement and laser welding operations
• Lead rapid prototyping from concept to production-ready designs using advanced manufacturing techniques
• Develop mechanical test methodologies for performance, durability, and quality control
• Collaborate with optical engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams to ensure DFM and optical performance
• Create 2D/3D CAD files, work instructions, SOPs, and documentation for tests and commissioning
