Job summary

L3Harris Technologies is seeking a Senior Associate, Mechanical Engineer to lead design and qualification of precision mechanisms used in mission systems. The role involves on-site work at multiple sites, including Palm Bay, FL; Chantilly, VA; or Carlsbad, CA, with prototype, integration and hardware-test activities.

The candidate will develop 3D models, drawings, and assemblies, while evaluating materials, performing design trades, and coordinating with manufacturing and test teams to ensure

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in a related field with 2+ years of experience (or more for higher levels).
• Active Top Secret or Top Secret/SCI clearance is required (active within last 2 years preferred).
• Hands-on experience designing, developing, integrating and testing mechanical hardware.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical design, analysis, prototype integration and qualification testing for precision mechanisms and electro-mechanical hardware.
• Develop 3D models, drawings, technical data packages and assembly documentation.
• Evaluate materials and design trades to improve performance, size, weight, power, manufacturability and reliability.
• Plan and execute component- and system-level tests; analyze results and drive improvements.
• Present designs and results at reviews (PDRs, CDRs, peer reviews).
• Coordinate with manufacturing, quality, CM, suppliers and test teams to transition designs into production.
