Job summary

L3Harris Technologies is seeking a Specialist, Mechanical Engineer for on-site work at Palm Bay, FL; Carlsbad, CA; or Herndon, VA. The role focuses on design, analysis, and testing of precision mechanisms for mission systems, with opportunities to impact production transitions.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree and relevant experience, with TS clearance supported. On-site collaboration with cross-functional teams is essential for success in this dynamic defense environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 4 years of related experience; graduate degree with 2+ years; or 8 years of related experience in lieu of a degree.
• Active Top Secret or Top Secret/SCI clearance; active within last two years considered.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical design, analysis, prototype integration, and qualification testing for precision mechanisms and electro-mechanical hardware.
• Develop 3D models, drawings, technical data packages, and assembly documentation.
• Evaluate material selections and design trades for performance, size, weight, power, manufacturability, and reliability.
• Plan and execute component and system tests; analyze results and drive design improvements.
• Present designs and results at internal and customer reviews (PDRs, CDRs).
• Collaborate with manufacturing, quality, CM, suppliers, technicians, and the program test team to transition designs to production.
• Support field-test or demonstration activities as needed.
