Job summary

L3Harris Technologies, Inc. is seeking a Specialist, Mechanical Engineer (Mechanisms) to design and qualify precision mechanisms for mission systems.

You will own components from concept through integration and test, delivering dependable capability for customers executing critical missions. This on-site role requires collaboration with manufacturing and test teams at Chantilly, VA, Palm Bay, FL, or Carlsbad, CA, and involves lab, prototype, and hardware-test activities in mixed office and lab

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree with 4+ years of relevant experience or graduate degree with 2+ years experience.
Active Top Secret or Top Secret/SCI clearance (active in last 2 years preferred).

Responsibilities

Lead mechanical design, analysis, prototype integration, and qualification testing for precision mechanisms and electro-mechanical hardware.
Develop 3D models, drawings, technical data packages, and assembly documentation.
Evaluate material selections and design trades to improve performance, size, weight, power, manufacturability, and reliability.
Plan and execute component and system-level tests; analyze results and drive design improvements.
Present designs and results at internal and customer reviews (PDRs/CDRs).
Collaborate with manufacturing, quality, configuration management, suppliers, technicians, and test teams to transition designs to production.
Support field-test or demonstration activities as needed.
Work on-site in a mix of office and lab environments.
