Job summary

Mission Critical Group is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer in the United States to design sheet metal panels, structural supports, barriers, and copper bus assemblies for low- to medium-voltage switchgear. You will ensure manufacturability, comply with safety standards, and collaborate with electrical teams to produce integrated drawing packages.

The role requires 7+ years in mechanical design, with strong sheet metal and bus bar experience, and proficiency in AutoDesk Inventor.

Qualifications

7+ years progressive mechanical design experience, switchgear or power distribution equipment a plus.
5+ years sheet metal design and copper bus bar for low/medium voltage.
Proficiency with AutoDesk Inventor; familiarity with other 3D CAD tools.
Experience in BOMs, drawings, and manufacturing documentation.

Responsibilities

Create detailed 3D models and drawings of sheet metal panels, supports, barriers, and bus assemblies using CAD software (AutoDesk Inventor).
Ensure designs meet manufacturability, safety, and regulatory requirements.
Collaborate with electrical designers to integrate structural and copper bus elements into customer drawings.
Partner with project management, manufacturing, sales, estimating, and field service to support execution.
Prepare BOMs, assembly drawings, and cut sheets to support manufacturing.
Contribute to design reviews and process improvements to enhance quality and reduce costs.
