Job summary

Duke Energy is seeking a Mechanical Engineer III to support engineering design and technical issue resolution across a diverse set of power generation facilities including coal, natural gas, hydro, and solar. Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET accredited program.
  • Master's degree in Engineering will be considered in lieu of the B.S.

Responsibilities

  • Provides engineering/technical guidance in identification, analysis and resolution of problems of increasing scope and complexity.
  • Contributes to team decision-making through effective planning, organizing, estimating, scheduling and monitoring of work activities.
  • Deals with changing priorities and differing situations and makes decisions that may affect the work of the team.
  • Prepares technical reports, calculations, and sketches related to well-defined problems and analysis of increasing scope and complexity.
  • Conducts engineering and related studies.
  • Completes routine engineering projects with minimal oversight and independently manages project schedules and interfaces.
  • Possesses and applies fundamental concepts, practices and procedures; proficient in technical and analytical competencies.
  • Develops positive working relationships to coordinate work activities.
  • Demonstrates effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Maintains accurate records and files.
  • Supports the company's goals and represents the company positively and professionally.
  • Facilitate MER Meetings to review risk items and develop scope and budget recommendations for future inspections.
  • Collaborate with COSO and Station/Plant Engineers to initiate project requests in PowerPlan long range planning.
  • Support Risk Grid items with Station/Plant Engineer and Technical Manager for entry to the Station Risk Grid.
  • Provide technical oversight and support station operations, maintenance, and Implementation Managers for emergent technical requests, outages, and projects.
  • Document inspection findings and provide Station/Plant Engineer and/or COSO prioritized repair recommendations.

Education
