Job summary
Kimley-Horn's Denver office seeks a Mechanical Engineer with 10+ years of experience to lead the Power Generation team on natural gas, coal-fired, and complex energy projects. The role includes mentoring junior engineers, guiding piping, tanks, and HVAC design, and coordinating with clients and contractors to meet performance and regulatory goals.
The ideal candidate will have a PE license, strong understanding of project lifecycles, and hands-on experience with GT Pro or similar performance
Qualifications
- 10+ years of engineering design experience in Power Generation.
- Experience with simple cycle, combined cycle plants using natural gas, fuel oil, and diesel and/or coal-fired generation is preferred.
- Familiarity with project life cycle, feasibility studies, bidding, commissioning, and operations phases of large power plants.
Responsibilities
- Lead mechanical engineering efforts for power generation projects.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior team members.
- Coordinate with clients and external partners to ensure project success.
- Design piping, tanks, vessels, and related systems for air quality and process applications.
- Develop and review P&IDs and perform lifecycle cost analyses.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and contractors across jurisdictions.
