Job summary

Supermicro is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to lead the design and development of 800G and 1.6T optical transceiver modules, including QSFP, QSFP-DD, and OSFP form factors. You will own mechanical architecture, packaging, thermal solutions, and manufacturing support for hyperscale data center products.

You’ll create 3D models and drawings using SolidWorks and PTC Creo, drive DFx initiatives, collaborate with optical, electrical, and reliability teams, and ensure compliance with MSA

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• 5+ years of mechanical design experience in optical transceivers, networking hardware, or related electronics.
• Hands-on experience with QSFP, QSFP28, QSFP-DD, OSFP.
• Proficiency with CAD tools including SolidWorks, PTC Creo.
• Knowledge of tolerance analysis, GD&T, and mechanical stack-up calculations.

Responsibilities

• Design mechanical housings, cages, heat sinks, retainers, and structural components for optical transceiver modules.
• Create 3D models, drawings, and assemblies using CAD tools such as SolidWorks and PTC Creo.
• Define mechanical architecture for high-speed optical modules (800G, 1.6T).
• Develop packaging solutions optimizing size, performance, reliability, and manufacturability.
• Ensure compliance with QSFP, QSFP-DD, OSFP and MSA specifications.
